Re: thread of hope
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 3:46 PMOh man... Can of worms... I've got so many of these.
(keeps me (in)sane)
Washington state is gonna mandate that stores charge 20 cents every time someone needs a bag, so that people will start reusing bags.
The other day I was visiting my parents and I found one of the original "Save a tree'' cotton bags that I had drawn on when I was four. My mum lemme have it and I feel like the coolest girl at the health food store :) -

Sun, April 27, 2008 - 5:50 PMHey, Sorry for seemingly flying off topic. At the time I read this article I had a tab open on the research efforts of www.algalita.org/ a marine research company looking for ways to fix that huge problem. It was my understanding that this thread was about hope. I really hope that something can be done about cleaning up the world's biggest moop flotilla.

Re: thread of hope: China says it will meet with the dali lama's envoy

“We see this as a very positive gesture by the Chinese authorities,” said Jose Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission, adding that Premier Wen Jiabao told him of the upcoming talks at a “private tete-a-tete” Thursday evening.
“The Chinese say they are ready to discuss everything except sovereignty. And so if the concern of the Dalai Lama is, as he has always stated, the respect for cultural identity, religious identity, and autonomy inside China, I believe there is real room for dialogue,” Barroso said. -
